This is one of my all-time favorite quotes, and I think it speaks to the heart of why most of us get frustrated by our annual New Year’s ritual of “Going On a Diet.”

Every year it’s the same old thing, right?  We resolve to lose weight, exercise more, get healthier.  We toss out all the foods we love, obsess over the number of calories in a carrot stick, and even consider buying some killer cardio videos from that sweaty guy in the late night infomercials.

We may shed a few pounds or see the shadow of a bicep muscle, but sooner or later, we realize we’re exhausted.  It’s just too hard to live this way.  We give up, and the weight comes right back.  It’s soul crushing.
